It isn't lah. Because you probably don't qualify. And you probably never will!
You need 80 transactions a month lah - to qualify. And you'll need to have the card or a Smart Tag.
SO, it sounds to me more like a promotion for Touch N Go, and not about a rebate for the likes of us 'poor' citizens!
If you're too poor to get the card, or a Smart Tag, you don't get zilch. Even if you were to gross 100 transactions a month.
Who's going to benefit? I dunno. Hardly anyone who needs it, I'm thinking.
Sigh.
Everything seems to be designed for effect rather than effectiveness. Looks good on paper. Sounds great on the news. A real 'let's celebrate moment', no?
No.
It's like these silly things on the radio: the Nth caller through will get a silly CD. Why not the first idiot to call you? Why you filling the coffers of Telekoms or Digi or Maxis or whatever?
Silly idiots.
So, keep your pants on, folks. Nothing to celebrate.
Rebate my ass lah!

Hohoho Xmas comes early for PLUS ...
In these tough times instead of helping common poor Malaysians, this gotta to be 1 MALAYSIA BOLEH belanja more.
Yeah, a promotion for Smart Tags that are constantly out of stock!
That said, I have both (SmartTag and T&G), and probably do qualify. Then, though, there's the hassle of having to go to specific places to claim the rebate - with forms to fill, no doubt (we just luuurves our forms).
It's all electronic anyway... why the hassle of unnecessary paperwork?
Inquiring minds will insatiably probably never know...
Yes, Pat. That was a cosmentic announcement. Malaysians were fooled. I wasn't. I wrote to many blogs.
The mianstream media continued their ass-licking by paying tribute to Najib. None of the papers dared question how many will benefit and how.
Then NST came with a front-page news on 85,000 motorists to benefit. All in Klang Valley. These are the rich motorists who are earning quite well.
We have 4 million motorists in Malaysia. So it works out to about 2 per cent. What? Only two percent and that too the richer ones? And the smarttage company? And NST had to spin it to make it positive in Page 1? I think people who read local newspapers and watch TV3 and RTM are no more than fools. Let's boycott lah...
Can't believe how easily
What did you expect from a rogue government running on voodoo and crass hype? Service with a smile? ;-0
Hi Pat..I know it so frustrating how things are done in KL. This is how the Government helps the people over here...as of last week, anybody over 60 (that includes yours truly!!) get to use any Public Transport (Bus, Tram and Trains) free of charge between 9am to 3pm - no but's no if's - all you need is proof of age. On weekends and Holidays - it's gratis the whole day.
Sad to hear about Teo Beng Hock's death - I think that this is the begining of the end for Barisan - in fact I know it is.
Regards.
HH
BravoEagleHotel,
Yes, it's gonna be a wonderful celebration for PLUS, isn't it?
Walski,
Why the hassle? I guess because for 20%, not many would bother! So, it's sorta like a double bonus for PLUS: great publicity, and very little to pay out!

I haven't read the local papers for the longest time. On Sundays, I read the comics, and look for updates on what's happening with MJ :)
Thank you for the figures, though. So, it all boils down to nothing for PLUS, eh?
An estee-lauder-job for sure!
Antares
I don't don't know what I wished lah, but it wasn't this.
Hussein
Don't start about how good it is there, ok?! It's rubbing salt, lah!!! Hahahaha.
Hussein,
I missed this: Yes, it is so tragic about Teo. Only 30, and dead on the eve of the day he was to be married. I'll never believe he committed suicide - so they better stop implying he did.
Dear Pat, I hadn't even thought of the rebate. But now that you mention it, even if I had wanted to, I wouldn't qualify.
I take the Smart tunnel 5 days a week to work. I return via the NPE 5 days a week. When the traffic is excruciatingly slow, I take the Smart Tunnel out of town but rarely.
Even if I took the Smart Tunnel into work, the Smart Tunnel out of KL and then the NPE, it would only add up to less than 65 times a month. So........ who will qualify? Grrrrrrr
Now that I think about it and have done the calculations, I'm so angry! Grrrrrrrrrrr.
But not at you, dearie. :)
Hugs!
Dear Lita,
I hear you! So who does qualify? I'd love to meet that person. And I'm thinking it's just one person, if any!
Have you checked out the survey in The Star? More than 43% of voters use tolled roads fewer than 20 times a month. Surprisingly, 17% claim to use tolled roads more than 80 times a month. A few days ago, when I first voted, it revealed that fewer than 10% use tolled roads in excess of 80 times a month. Maybe TNG sent their people in to vote numerous times to sway the numbers in the last 1-2 days.
No, I haven't seen the Star survey, but I'm not surprised at the 'results' they say they got.
In my teaching days, I used to tell my students that they could always get the results they wanted in a survey, and they didn't need to cheat or do anything illegal!
All you have to do is ask the questions correctly - and you can make a survey prove any theory right!
Hi all..
I agree with this,
Everything seems to be designed for effect rather than effectiveness.
However I may qualified (perhaps) for this. My journey per days are:
For Work
1 Kesas
1 Elite
Going Back Home
2 LDP or same for work
If wanna hurry go back home, add 1 more for KESAS.
However I really hope they can design for more effectiveness. The tolls really suck my wallet every month!!
I hope you make the effort to get what you qualify for. Do they have a 'within x months' or whatever, after which it is no more? Need to find out.
