When I don't understand something in another language, Google Translate does it for me. Free. And it's a bloody good job it does, I must say. Their "software" - which was paid for with my hard earned money - had a 'glitch' and so is responsible for the rubbish below.
They must've hit 'translate' and just let it go. No one bothered to see what was done? How it was translated? Or was it that they looked, but it looked simply perfect to them? Hmmmm.
I hope none of those who 'manned' the site were any of my ex-students :(
Someone saved the stuff below, that's how I've got my hands on it.

Dress code
How to dress symbolizes the personality of the officers and staff as well as the values and moral work ethics. Therefore, how to dress and clothes are clean, tidy and appropriate to be standard practice is emphasized to the officers and staff. Following rules of dress while on duty in the office to be observed:
Dress code FOR MEN
Men's Clothing:
i) For officers in the management and professional, "Lounge Suite" or "Bush's jacket
ii) long pants with long sleeved shirt and tie
iii) complete with Malay dress clothes and bersongkok bersamping dark.
iv) Officers in the management and professional to wear a neck strap / cap / corporate scarves every Wednesday and the official functions of the Ministry.
v) long-sleeved shirts and T-shirt: -
a) collared shirts and tight Malay civet berbutang three
b) collared shirts and tight Malay civet berbutang five
c) hidden berbutang Nehru collar,
d) three berbutang mandarin collar.
e) long pants. Do not fold your sleeves. Shirts must be included in (tuck in).
f) Nehru suits made of fabrics and colors to suit: -
i) forward berbutang
ii) hidden berbutang
Dress code FOR WOMEN
Women's Clothing:
Appropriate clothing and worn neatly and politely in line with the practice of noble character.
Clothes that are allowed are as follows:
a) baju kurung
b) T-shirt and a loose blouse with exquisite
c) long-sleeved shirts and skirts with exquisite
d) National Dress by race
e) Shine closed
f) Wearing jewelry or accessories are simple and suitable only
CLOTHING NOT ALLOWED
The dress code is not allowed in the work:
a) Dress up that thought it seems to want to attend a party or picnic
b) Clothes that poke eye
c) 'jeans' or 'slacks'
d) Short Pants
e) Clothes that cover their face
f) sports shoes and slippers
g) hair dye
h) Suits (except in circumstances that require such work to outside)
i) long pants and blouse (for women)

ReplyDeleteOh dear! The translator must be the product of the current education system. I think the translator has an A1 at the SPM level and a graduate from one of the public universities and thus qualifies to do the translation job. I wonder why they don't let professional translators do the job rather than ask them to be done in house even though none of their senior staff could see and what more correct the mistakes?

Well, if they do get professional translators, I hope they don't get the same ones who work on our tv programmes. Some of their 'glitches' are so bad, they are hilarious - just like these ones from the MOD!!!
OhGosh I love it believe me when I say I've seen some translation from English to French had work that had the boss sleeping nude with his assistant or something horrible like that lol I especially love the corporate scarf on Wednesday, and the dress that may want to go to a party lol h thank you I needed a rip-roaring laugh, Ilvoe this lol, I use to hav ea French to English or English to french c0medy blog,It was hilarious

ReplyDeleteI would have done it for them for free, no software glitch except when I take my beauty sleeps.... my fav: tight Malay civet berbutang. Am assuming that is the translation for baju Melayu cekak musang berbutang...aiyoh...even a home schooled cat knows this. purrr...meow!

Yes, even a home-schooled kitty like you could have done this. Easily! But, it is so much more profitable to buy a big machine to do it, even if it is going to eff it all up in the process, no?!
